Unlocking Private Sector Potential to Invest in the Conservation of Freshwater Ecosystems

Healthy nature and ecosystems are key for human wellbeing and development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been set up to counter the challenges we face. Yet there is a huge finance gap for the SDGs (1.4 trillion USD) and conservation investment needs are estimated to be 3.9 trillion USD, annually. With only governmental and philanthropy funds we will never be able to fill this gap, and private investors could close more than half the funding gap. We need to work with private and financial institutions to find nature conservation projects, that deliver impact for nature, people and the economy.
